Ending Eclampsia Launches Research in Pakistan

Landscape analysis results will shed light on recommendations for scale-up of high-impact interventions

Eclampsia is responsible for 10.4 percent of maternal deaths each year in Pakistan. The Ending Eclampsia project seeks to understand national policies, misconceptions about the disorder, and bottlenecks to seeking care for women experiencing complications during pregnancy. Researchers will interview national and provincial policymakers to assess policies as well as health providers’ knowledge and skills in detecting, treating, and managing pre-eclampsia/eclampsia.

Focus group discussions with PE/E survivors and their families will allow researchers to understand beliefs and attitudes concerning PE/E and its associated risk factors and symptoms.
