Timing of probiotic milk consumption during pregnancy and effects on the incidence of preeclampsia and preterm delivery: a prospective observational cohort study in Norway

Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2018

Researchers found an association between timing of probiotic milk consumption during pregnancy and the incidence of the adverse pregnancy outcomes – pre-eclampsia and pre-term delivery. The study calls for future randomised controlled trials to better understand the association between probiotic milk consumption and reduced risk of pre-eclampsia and pre-term delivery. If an association is established, recommending probiotics could be a promising public health measure to reduce these adverse pregnancy outcomes.
